Synopsis:
On the eve of the 20th century, an enchanting love story is about to unfold in this critically-acclaimed film from director Pupi Avati. Having been told that true love exists only in novels, beautiful young bride-to-be Francesca reluctantly agrees to an arranged marriage to Edgardo, a wealthy older man whom she detests. While reciting her vows, Francesca instantly falls in love with Angelo, the handsome stranger standing beside her husband. As Francesca scandalizes the wedding party with her flirtations, her family and Edgardo frantically attempt to reassure the gossiping partygoers.
