Synopsis:
At nearly 65 years of age, media tycoon William Parrish (Anthony Hopkins) is an extraordinary fellow,
a person of astounding wealth who has nevertheless remained decent and compassionate, a man of integrity and
firmly held convictions who deeply loved his late wife and adores his two daughters. But his charmed life
and orderly household are suddenly disrupted by the arrival of an otherworldly presence. Interacting with
Parrish prompts this uncanny presence to assume a human form - Joe Black (Brad Pitt) - so that he can
learn about Parrish's life and the ways of the world, but soon, the mysterious young man proceeds to fall in
love with Parrish's beautiful daughter Susan (Claire Forlani). For Susan, Parish and the rest of his
family, the consequences of this romance are profound, complicated and bittersweet, for Joe Black is actually
the personification of Death. |
