Synopsis:
Tired of today's baseball strikes, artificial turf, domed stadiums and millionaire players? Take a trip
back to simpler times, when a black baseball team, the Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings, blended comedy
skits and baseball skills during the days of "color barriers" in the major leagues. Bingo (Billy Dee Williams),
Leon (James Earl Jones) and Charlie (Richard Pryor), star players in the Negro National
League, break away from their tyrannical black bosses and form their own razzle-dazzle team. Barnstorming
across the Depression-era Midwest, the All-Stars take on local teams of all sizes and colors, contend with
bigotry -- and discover that their worst enemies are their own former owners. Good-natured and funny --
yet touching on serious themes -- The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings is the stuff American
legends are made of. |
