As the Rebel leaders map their strategy for an all-out attack on the Emperor's new Death Star, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) remains frozen and imprisoned in the cavernous desert fortress of Jabba the Hutt, the most loathsome and feared outlaw in the universe. Jabba's sprawling lair is a refuge for bizarre bandits and bounty hunters from the darkest corners of every world, and it is here that Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) has been chained as a slave girl on display at Jabba's whim.

By now, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) has completed his training with Yoda, the Jedi Master. It is as a full-fledged Jedi Knight that he arrives to rescue his friends. This requires every bit of Luke's new skill, for he must not only defeat the Rancor, a roaring monstrosity that inhabits Jabba's dungeons, but also face the Sarlacc, the enormous worm-like terror that digests its victims for 1,000 years.

Yet the real fight is just beginning, for the Rebels must strike against the lethal Death Star, protected by an impenetrable shield generated from the moon of Endor, home of the furry fierce Ewoks. And before he can become a true Jedi, Luke must wage his crucial battle against Darth Vader, his father, who has sworn to win Luke over to the Dark Side of The Force.

Of course, on hand are Star Wars favorites Chewbacca, Han's towering, loveable sidekick; Yoda, the dispenser of ancient Jedi wisdom who sets Luke on the path to self-realization; Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), the personable rogue who's joined the Rebels; R2-D2, the determined, diminutive Droid, and his mechanical sidekick, C-3PO.

In addition, there's a vast array of new creations, including the pint-sized Ewoks, who, with their primitive but effective weapons charge into battle against the AT-ST Walkers of the Empire, plus more than 60 aliens of all shapes and sizes, such as Jabba the Hutt, Admiral Ackbar, Nien Nunb and Bib Fortuna.
