Stardate 8390.0 It's the 23rd century, and a mysterious alien power is threatening Earth by evaporating the oceans and destroying the atmosphere. For release in Japan, Paramount added a short segment to the beginning of the film which gives a brief overview of the events that occurred in The Wrath of Khan and The Search for Spock. The Pan & Scan editions are the only versions of the film to include this 3½ minute introduction.
