She's mysterious, alluring and inspires in ambitious young writer Jake Sisko (Cirroc Lofton) an unprecedented torrent of creativity, so what could be wrong with the intriguing space traveler who comes to the station? In a word: everything. Unsuspecting Jake does not know that while the visitor unlocks his potential, she is also parasitically drawing his life force from him.

Meanwhile, Lwaxana Troi (Majel Barrett), an old flame of Security Chief Odo's (René Auberjonois) shows up at the station pregnant and on the run from her Tavnian husband. In keeping with Tavnian law, Odo claims the woman as his bride. But can a marriage of expedience become a union of love?

Yates (Penny Johnson) may be first in Commander Sisko's (Avery Brooks) heart, but she's also suspect No. 1 when officers suspect a Maquis spy is working from inside DS9. Insisting that he have unshakeable proof, Sisko tracks Yates' freighter to the Badlands...where he realizes he's been duped. Someone is using her to draw Sisko away from a carefully planned heist of Class-4 replicators that are coming to the station. While Sisko grapples with issues of love and duty, fugitive Elim Garak (Andrew Robinson) confronts his own conflicted feelings. A beautiful visitor from his homeworld has invited him on a hot date - an ultra-hot Cardassian sauna. Things may get hotter, because wary Garak arrives packing heat.
