An investigation reveals that this commander is actually Thomas Riker, now a member of the Maquis, and his target is a secret Cardassian military installation. Hoping to prevent a full-scale war, Sisko (Avery Brooks) joins forces with Gul Dukat (Marc Alaimo) and travels to the Cardassian homeworld to hunt for Riker and the Defiant. But as they close in on the ship, Riker discovers something in the depths of Cardassian space that shocks everyone, including Gul Dukat.

Romance is in full bloom on board the station during the annual Bajoran Gratitude Festival. But while Kira's (Nana Visitor) meeting with Bareil (Philip Anglim) is sweet, O'Brien's (Colm Meaney) reunion with Keiko (Rosalind Chao) is strained. To make matters worse, Lwaxana Troi (Majel Barrett) arrives and tried to seduce Odo (René Auberjonois). Unfortunately, he can't escape her clutches and neither can anyone else. it seems the Betazoid ambassador is suffering from a telepathic virus which projects her amorous feeling onto others, amplifying their subconscious attractions. Soon Jake (Cirroc Lofton) is chasing Kira, Kira is chasing Bareil, Bareil wants Dax (Terry Farrell), Dax wants Sisko (Avery Brooks), and Sisko just wants to know what's going on.
