Data and Geordi make an able Holmes and Watson, but the adventure is short-lived. Having memorized all of Holmes' cases, Data solves the mystery too easily. Stardate 42402.7 After coming to the aid of a disabled cargo ship, the Enterprise beams aboard the craft's sole occupant, Captain Okona (William O. Campbell). Okona quickly charms the crew with his roguish manner and irrepressible wit. Data (Brent Spiner), however, is unable to understand Okona's jokes, and seeks counsel from Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg) and a holodeck comic (Joe Piscopo). Meanwhile, leaders from two interplanetary vessels have contacted the Enterprise to demand Okona's surrender. First, planet Altec's Debin (Douglas Rowe) accuses Okona of fathering his daughter's child; then, Kushell (Albert Stratton) from Straileb charges Okona with the theft of the prized Jewel of Thalia. Okona claims his innocence, but can Picard (Patrick Stewart) trust the renegade roué? |
