Pressing Notes

The highly acclaimed British documentary series The World at War saw 4 episodes issued on DiscoVision. Episode 24, The Bomb, details the events leading up to and the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. As per the other titles in the series, the transfer is very good. Created from program material prepared for television broadcast in Europe, the 16mm source material was well suited for this transfer. The images show the age of the elements. The audio transfer is clear and intelligible. As usual, there is almost no high-end to the audio. Disc replication is clean, though not as good as other entries in the series.

Of interest to collectors, some copies of this title have "feature film" blue labels.

Release History

The Bomb has never been re-issued on LaserDisc. The entire World at War has been issued twice on DVD.
