Pressing Notes

This two sided DiscoVision information program is without side numbers on its green labels. Although the program material is short enough to fit on one side, DiscoVision elected to deliver two short sides. Each side begins with the normal opening graphics and the standard motion picture warning.

Some copies have been found with additional information at the end of side 1. A player which ignores the "end of side" is required to play this additional program. What has been discovered is SMPTE color bars and 1000hz tone. During the test pattern, the frame counter remains stationary. However, further down the disc, the counter resets, and the DiscoVision bumper begins for...Choosing What To Buy. The first 19,087 frames of the 2nd program are presented before the program ends. There is no end of side stop, so any player reaching this very end of the disc will play right off the recorded surface and go insane when it looses sync. The complete program is is then presented, on side 2 as expected.

Money in the Marketplace/Choosing What to Buy was last listed in the October 1980 catalog.
